A Series on the books of Psalms and Proverbs

The book of Psalms expresses worship.  Throughout its many pages, Psalms encourages its reader to praise God for who He is and what He has done.  Proverbs shows its theme early telling us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.  The fear of the Lord refers to our viewing Him with the respect He deserves.  Pastor Dennis and Pastor Tim provide us with some insight on some of the most recognized chapters from these two books.

Part 1:  The Person God Blesses (Psalm 1:1-6)

Pastor Dennis gives this message on Psalm 1.  This Psalm is written in order to teach what is right and what is wrong.  It describes the things that are pleasing to the Lord and how to do them.  It also explains that there are consequences for not following the path of the Lord.

Part 2:  The Path of Life (Psalm 16:1-11)

Pastor Dennis gives this message on Psalm 16.  The attitude of the righteous man is described in life (verses 1-8) and death (versus 9=11),

Part 3:  Psalm of the Cross (Psalm 22:1-18)

Pastor Dennis gives this message on Psalm 22.  Jesus spoke the words from the first verse while on the cross, words first uttered by David.  David was speaking for all of God's people and we to reflect on the whole Psalm as they relate to Christ in order to understand them fully.

Part 4:  God is my Shepherd and I am His Sheep (Psalm 23:1-6)

Pastor Dennis gives this message on Psalm 23.  This Psalm portrays God as a good shepherd, feeding and leading his flock.  It is known that the shepherd is to know each sheep by name.  This shows us that God, the good shepherd, is not only the protector but also the caretaker.

Part 5:  A Psalm of Revival (Psalm 51:1-17)

Pastor Dennis gives this message on Psalm 51.  David was caught in his sin and Psalm 51 is his response.  This is how we should respond when we recognize how sinful we are in the eyes of God.

Part 6:  Influenced by the Word of God (Psalm 119:1-11)

Pastor Tim gives this message on Psalm 119, the longest chapter in the Bible.  Always trying to fill ourselves with our own desires leaves us empty.  But seeking God's and His word for our lives will leave us filled and give us joy!

Part 7:  Discovering God (Psalm 139:1-24)

Pastor Dennis gives this message on Psalm 139.  One of the greatest truths in life, which we all must come to learn, is that there is no escape from God.  Once we give up our flight and allow ourselves to be found, we discover His intention.  He formed us even in our mother's womb for His purpose and ordained all of our days bedore we ever saw the light of day.

Part 8:  Psalm of Praise (Psalm 150:1-6)

Pastor Dennis gives this message on Psalm 150.  Psalm 150 is a passionate cry to all creation to give God the praise that is due Him.  In this message we find out what we should praise God for and how to praise Him.

Part 9:  Trusting God with all my Heart (Proverbs 3:1-12)

Pastor Dennis gives this message on Proverbs 3.  This Proverbs is a father's speech to his son.  He tells him to follow his ways, trust in God, pursue wisdom, and treat others properly.  He also tells him not to envy the lawless because God gives them what they deserve.

Part 10:  Who is in Control? (Proverbs 16:1-9)

Pastor Tim gives the message on Proverbs 16.  Man can devise whatever plan he wants, but God is the one who determines what happens in the end.  Commit to the Lord.

Part 11:  The 'Train-up' Concept (Proverbs 22:1-6)

Pastor Dennis gives the message on Proverbs 22.  A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches.  Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
